Mayterials 2026

This edition of the Mayterials challenge was both rewarding and demanding. Through 15 materials, averaging around 8 hours of work each, I mainly explored themes related to architecture, craftsmanship, and personal memories.

Some prompts came naturally, while others pushed me far outside my comfort zone. Several materials were also influenced by experiences, passions, or conversations that helped shape their final direction. Looking back, this challenge was as much an exercise in interpretation and storytelling as it was in material creation.

A small nod to the theme Taboo, which I immediately approached as a social issue rather than an abstract concept. The idea came to me very quickly, but the many doubts I had about my interpretation ultimately led me to create it at the very last moment.

As always, all materials were created in Substance Designer.
