Meet Mat Radio - Meet Mat 4 contest

For my first participation in the Meet Mat Challenge 2024, I chose to transform Meet Mat into an old 1930s radio, abandoned and weathered by time. Inspired by urban exploration and vintage objects, I started with a concept based on a reference radio, then created my main materials in Substance Designer, including a light burl elm wood, a dark walnut wood, and a textured fabric for the speaker. The metal for the radio's plate, the feet, and the base was crafted in Substance Painter, unlike the other three materials.

Throughout the project, I refined my work with feedback, rebalanced the materials to better match my reference, and added details such as engravings, ornaments, marquetry, and an authenticity plaque. I also aged the piece with dust and chipped wood. Finally, I created a final visual reminiscent of a vintage advertisement.

I’d like to thank everyone who provided feedback, especially:

Thank you so much!

This project has been a rewarding adventure, and I hope it captivates you as much as I enjoyed creating it.
